The "GS" Server allows, through its built-in converter of audio files,
to convert a regular
audio (PCM or ADPCM) Wave file or text file or a group of files into a proper
("GSF" - Genie Stream File) format,
which is necessary for the "STREAM AUDIO FILE" streaming mode.
Microsoft SAPI 5.x SDK (Speech Application Programming Interface System
Development Kit) is necessary for conversion
of a text file into an audio-file (TTS - Text to Speech). Depending on the method of acquiring of the "GS" Server, the installation package may or may not contain
the automatic installation of SAPI 5 SDK and all its files required for the "GS" media converter. The Internet version of the "GS" Server does not contain SAPI
5.x SDK automatic installation,
since having it would increase the size of the installation file greatly (by approx. 60 MB) and, hence,
would significantly slowdown the download of the installation file.
The full version of the "GS" Server, including the automatic installation and
configuration of SAPI 5.x SDK, can be ordered through a "GS" Server
distributor (if available).
Alternatively, SAPI 5.x SDK (a free Microsoft Corporation
product) can be downloaded from the Microsoft website and installed by
the "GS" Service Provider.
Installation of SAPI 5.x SDK is a very straightforward process process not requiring any additional actions on your part once you install it. Upon the installation of SAPI 5.x SDK, the
"GS" Server Media converter will automatically recognize it on your system.

Understanding the Audio Converter
1 Button selects the directory where source (Wave - "*.wav"; or Text -"*.txt") files to be converted are stored.
2
Indicator displays what type of files are available for the conversion process.
The "GS" Server
automatically checks your
system and displays the appropriate type(s) of files.
If you do not see
"TEXT"
type, it means that you do not have a full and/or proper installation
of MS SAPI 5.x
SDK. As a result, you will not be able to convert text files in to the "GS" Server "GSF" file format.
3 Options can be used for conversion process.
4 List view of source files. Use right mouse click to open a popup menu.
5 Use "Text To Speech Setup" menu item from the control popup menu to open Microsoft "Speech Properties Setup".

9 List view of files existing in the target file folder. Please be careful; some of these files can be easily overwritten if your source file has the same name as the name of the file already existing in the target folder. We are suggesting using different (or empty) folder for every set of files you are about to convert. If you need to, use an other files browser to dispatch the converted files into the proper file folder.
